How to edit website files using hosting control panel

DirectAdmin

  1. Go to your client area to the “Services – My Services” section and click the “Open Direct Admin” button;
  2. The Direct Admin panel will be opened. Go to the “System Info & Files” section and click the “File Manager” button;
  3. The File Manager will be opened. Find the “domains” folder and click its name. Then click the needed domain folder name and go to the “public_html” folder;
  4. Move your cursor over the needed file name and click the “Edit File” button in the menu that appears;
  5. A new window will be opened. In this window you can edit your file and switch editors mode (editor highlights syntax errors depending on the selected mode, which is very helpful for code writing);
  6. Make the necessary changes to the file and click the “Save” button.

cPanel

  1. Go to your client area to the “Services – My Services” section and click the “Open cPanel” button;
  2. The cPanel will be opened. Go to the “Files” section and click the “File Manager” button;
  3. The File Manager will be opened. Find and mark the needed file using the file manager navigation;
  4. Click the “Edit” button located in the upper right corner of the window;
  5. Before you get to the file editor, a file encoding popup will open. If your website uses English and standard characters, click the “Edit” button. If your site uses another language that does not use UTF-8 encoding, select the appropriate encoding and click the “Edit” button;
  6. Make the necessary changes to the file and click the “Save changes” button.

Files of the main domain of the service are located in the public_html directory.

ISPmanager

  1. Go to your client area to the “Services – My Services” section and click the “Open ISPmanager” button;
  2. You can add an alias by going to the section “Dashboard – File manager”;
  3. The File Manager will be opened. Find and mark the needed file using the file manager navigation;
  4. Click the “Edit” button located in the top center of the window;
  5. In the window that opens, you can make the necessary changes to the file, as well as change the encoding;
  6. Make the necessary changes and click the “Ok” button.

To edit the files of the site you are interested in, you can also go to the “WWW – WWW-domains” section, mark the domain and click the “Directory” button.

Plesk

  1. Go to your client area to the “Services – My Services” section and click the “Open Plesk” button;
  2. The Plesk panel will be opened. Go to the “Websites & Domains” section and click the button ”File Manager”;
  3. Click the name of the file to open it in the editor;
  4. In the window that opens, you can make the necessary changes to the file;
  5. Make the necessary changes and click the “Apply” button.
